Hello all, Cat here! Happy Friday! Before we start, I'd like to put out there that I am not a huge or professional twitch streamer. I hope to work hard to continue to grow my twitch channel. I simply wanted to share my journey so far and how easy it is for anyone to get started. If you always wanted to stream, I believe in you and you should too!
THE MOST IMPORTANT:
The most important thing you need is a talkative and positive attitude while streaming. People are coming to watch you out of the hundreds that are streaming. Just by simply talking to chat or talking in general about the game you are playing can attract that one viewer that stopped by your channel for a second. One viewer can lead to 100 viewers! So do your best to keep a positive attitude and don't let anyone bring you down. Keep streaming, keep playing and keep talking.
YOUR SET UP:
Now that we have our attitudes in the right path, we can get started on the technicalities. Starting out can hurt your wallet and that can be discouraging but I've seen people with high quality set ups and still have trouble getting viewers. So what I'm saying is you don't need a bunch of fancy equipment to get started.
So here are the things you need to have a basic stream:
1. A decent computer
2. Mic/headset
3. Webcam
4. OBS (a program that allows you to broadcast from your computer screen)
Here is my set up:
1. Nvidia Geforce gtx 770
2. Intel Core i7 - 3770k CPU
3. Corsair VOID gaming headset
4. Blue Yeti Mic
5. Logitech webcam
For OBS basic settings:
Depending on your computer, your settings may be different but this is what my set up looks like.
- 3500 Bitrate video (Depending on your computer, it may range from 2500-4000)
- Recording quality is set to indistinguishable quality
- Mp4 for recording format
- 60 fps values
Since this is a basic set up, everything else can be set to default. You don't want to mess with your settings to much unless you know what you're actually doing.
Having a better quality set up may improve your stream but doesn't guarantee more viewers. That depends on you and if viewers enjoy watching your stream or not. I can go on and on about what you need but all you need to do is begin your streaming journey and learn as you go! I'm still learning so I'm right there with you. I hope this helped! Good luck! Happy streaming mates.
